In 2013, former "Scotty 2 Hotty" Scott Garland finally hung up the baggy jeans and left The Worm behind to become a firefighter. Training as an emergency medical technician he graduated from Lake Tech Fire Academy in Floria, with the above image doing the rounds via his own Twitter to show off the new life he'd kicked off in earnest.

But the call of wrestling remained strong.

In January 2014, Garland donned the gear again for a Too Cool/Rikishi Monday Night Raw reunion against 3-Man Band, before nipping across to NXT with partner Grandmaster Sexay for a pre-TakeOver NXT Arrival contest with The Ascension the following month. The pair failed to claim an unlikely tag team title reign that night, but it wouldn't be the end of Garland's opportunities in Orlando.

His relationship with the black and gold brand became more pronounced two years later when he took on a role as a Performance Center trainer. It's one he's held ever since despite the continuing revolving door hiring policy at WWE's Florida wrestling warehouse.
