10 WWE Superstars Who Failed To Rejuvenate Their Careers In NXT

5. Brodus Clay

Out of everyone who took part in the fourth season of NXT, Brodus Clay should have been the breakout star, not Johnny Curtis. During his debut appearance, he cut an excellent promo about why he was going to come out on top in the competition and seemed to be a shoo-in to win the contract. Sadly, he took second place, but maintained a presence on WWE TV as Alberto Del Rio's bodyguard.

The rest of his run on the main roster as "The Funkasaurus" is well-documented, but after ditching the dancing gimmick, Clay made his way back to NXT for a time in early 2014. Although he was being pushed as a force to be reckoned with on the show, fans couldn't get the image of him jiving out of their heads.

Clay's strong suit had always been his mic skills, but without being the chance to talk, he was doomed to fail from the start. Other than a one-off win against Xavier Woods, he didn't hold much credibility in NXT, in addition to both of his matches with Adrian Neville not being very well-received.

He was gone from the company no more than two months after his NXT stint.
