Difficult though it no doubt was with those oversized vampire fangs, David 'Gangrel' Heath had three bites of the WWE cherry.

The first was an entirely unremarkable run beginning 1993, during which he was an enhancement talent under a mask known as 'The Black Phantom'. Much to the delight of his optometrist, his tenure staring at bright lights ended in mid 1995.

Three years later, Heath bared his teeth, as it were. Sold on his vampire gimmick, Bruce Prichard and Vince Russo drafted him back in as the bloodsucking Gangrel. Though he played his role well, Heath didn't have the charisma nor talent of his Brood underlings Edge and Christian, and when the two flew the roost for better things, his time was clearly numbered. Fangs entirely blunted, Heath was let go in 2001.

For no apparent reason, except perhaps because he's a top bloke, Heath was offered a fresh contract in WWE's OVW developmental territory in 2005. Before he could impart his vampiric wisdom to the up-and-comers, he was yet again asked to pack his frilly shirt. The company messed him around again a year on, inviting him to be part of the newly refounded ECW, though never using him. He was staked out for presumably the last time in 2007 - though you can never be too sure with vampires.

Benjamin was born in 1987, and is still not dead. He variously enjoys classical music, old-school adventure games (they're not dead), and walks on the beach (albeit short - asthma, you know). He's currently trying to compile a comprehensive history of video game music, yet denies accusations that he purposefully targets niche audiences. He's often wrong about these things.
