10 WWE Superstars Who Helped Define Extreme Rules
3. Brock Lesnar
Like the Shield, Brock Lesnar has only appeared at two Extreme Rules shows in his career. But on both occasions, he was perhaps the biggest draw on either card—especially so in his first outing.
Having returned from an eight-year hiatus, Lesnar brought his unmissable drawing power back to the WWE and immediately set his sights on Cena. Simply announcing the match itself would have been enough to build this one, but the blood-inducing brawls ahead of the event only added to the considerable hype.
Lesnar would go on to lose of course, but it was one of the most physical performances we’ve ever seen in the realm of sports entertainment. Safe to say, the Beast Incarnate left his mark—both figuratively and literally.
Then the following year, Lesnar defeated Triple H in a Steel Cage rematch of their WrestleMania affair. You’d be hard pushed to find a more star-studded Extreme Rules scrapbook than that of Brock Lesnar.
The fact that he performs so infrequently for WWE, but still managed to make it to two Extreme Rules shows helped elevate the PPV no end, making Lesnar a man who has truly helped to defined the Extreme Rules brand.
