10 WWE Superstars Who Need A Character Change
1. Roman Reigns
Could it really be anybody else?
Roman Reigns burst onto the scene as the biggest third of the popular faction, the Shield. Right from their early days, Roman was clearly booked as the strongest member of the trio.
After a strong couple of years, the group disbanded. From there, Reigns was quickly inserted into the World Title picture – a sign of the massive push that he was about to receive.
The Big Dog would go on to win the Royal Rumble match – to a chorus of boos – and earn himself a guaranteed WWE World Championship match at Wrestlemania. Roman seemed to be pencilled in to win his first World Title by dethroning the seemingly unbeatable Brock Lesnar.
However, as a result of a huge backlash from the fans, the finish was changed at short-notice, resulting in Seth Rollins walking away as Champion. Despite the finish of the match being changed, the damage had already been done. As soon as the ‘WWE Universe’ realised that the rocket had been firmly strapped to Roman’s back, the fans turned on him. Even his recent drop to the midcard hasn't helped his standing with a large number of fans.
Just as the previous section of this list was used to explain why Rusev could work as a face, it is also shows why Roman Reigns should be a heel. Let’s face it, he’s a natural heel.
So why isn’t he a heel already? While he seems perfect for the role in most fans’ eyes, the WWE machine has already got behind him as the next ‘face’ of the company. That, coupled with his superhero status in the eyes of WWE’s younger fans, seems to suggest that, no matter how much the fans want it, Roman won’t be turning heel any time soon.
