10 WWE Superstars Who Need A Character Change

3. Seth Rollins

About a year ago, nobody was a bigger Seth Rollins fan than myself. He played his heel champion role perfectly, cut some good promos and, I’m sure everyone will agree, his in-ring work speaks for itself. Unfortunately, though, his Title reign was cut short by a freak knee injury that he sustained at a house show.

When he returned, everybody speculated that he would turn face, probably as a result of a Triple H betrayal. This is exactly what eventually happened when Triple H interfered in a Universal Title match, costing his former protégé and gifting the title to Kevin Owens.

The idea of ‘the Architect’ turning face was, in theory, fine. Quite exciting, actually. It would have unquestionably gone down as a resounding success, had his character only been tweaked to remove the heel traits that he had acquired over the previous year or so.

Unfortunately, what actually happened was, as Cole might say, ‘vintage WWE.’ They sent him down the same track that they’ve sent Sheamus and Reigns down in the past. They turned him into one of those ‘comedy’ faces that they seem to love so much. The main highlight (if you can call it that) of his face run was undoubtedly when he referred to Chris Jericho as ‘Sparklecrotch.’

Seth Rollins is just as talented as he ever was and is arguably a natural face, given his high-flying, crowd pleasing moveset. He really needs to stop with the unfunny comedy, though.
