10 WWE Superstars Who Need To Revert To Their Old Gimmick

6. Butch Back To Pete Dunne

Having been part of the NXT UK and NXT scene for so long, it's easy to forget that Pete Dunne is just 28 years old. Considering the sheer amount of WWE stars who are nearing 40 or over it, it shows that time is clearly on the talented wrestler's side.

And judging by the awful Butch gimmick, he may well need it.

Dressed like a poor Peaky Blinders cosplay and acting like a live-action Scrappy-Doo, Butch is the sort of gimmick that could completely damage a wrestler's credibility. His random attacks on Sheamus' opponents might generate a pop every now and then, but can you seriously see Butch being in contention for any belt? Is anyone making 'dream match' graphics with him on them?

As Pete Dunne, they were. 'The Bruiserweight' was an exceptional gimmick, from the sadistic finger breaking to the gumshield, to the way Dunne held the belt in his mouth like a rabid animal. All of it screamed intimidation, and whilst the mic was never his strong suit, Dunne got over with his actions more than his words. Returning from injury absolutely jacked looked like the final piece of the puzzle.

If WWE actually want to complete that puzzle, they need to have Dunne scrap the Butch name, the look and the 'Brawling Brutes' (worst stable name going?) and reach for his gumshield once again.
