10 WWE Superstars You Didn't Know Had World Title Matches
7. Spike Dudley (vs. Stone Cold Steve Austin) - SmackDown 2001
"Didn't you hear Spike, Molly's a bimbo." Stone Cold Steve Austin's less than flattering words about Spike Dudley's girlfriend Molly Holly forced the 150 pounder into some pretty drastic action. As Paul Heyman said when 'the bully of Dudleyville' called out the Texas Rattlesnake on Raw: "Women weaken Brains." Spike's sheer tenacity and courage landed him a WWF Championship match after he ripped up a petition Austin created to oppose a WWF title shot handed to Chris' Benoit and Jericho for the upcoming King of The Ring event in 2001. The scheduled match went ahead despite Austin's protests. This matchup was indicative of the standards of the day. Everyone was allowed to eat, so to speak. No matter what perceived position you held on the card, you were afforded opportunities-a-plenty. This match, which would be an unadulterated 30 second squash bout in today's product, was really compelling and told a fantastic story. This mentality of equality needs to make a return to WWE's programming today. Desperately. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7HmS5rxB0Aw
