10 WWE Superstars You Didn't Know Had World Title Matches
6. Maven (vs. Triple H) - Raw 2004
Maven battled Triple H for Raw's World Heavyweight Championship live on the Monday night show in 2004. Since making the step up to the main roster following winning the first series of Tough Enough, Maven had been relegated to a jobber. His initial splash in the company at the 2002 Royal Rumble and that infamous dropkick elimination of The Undertaker was a long and distant memory. However, by the time 2004 rolled round he was in the midst of the biggest, and arguably only, major push of his time in the company. He recorded a shock victory over Batista which set up a rivalry with what was left of Evolution. Randy Orton had been long gone by this stage. The former Hardcore Champion took part in an Elimination Match at Survivor Series, teaming with Orton, Chris Benoit, and Chris Jericho to face Triple H, Batista, Gene Snitsky, and Edge for the power to control Raw for one month. Snitsky attacked Maven backstage before the match but the former primary school teacher made a miraculous recovery to join his teammates and compete in the match. Orton's team would win the match and each member would be given control of Raw for one week. Maven made full use of this and booked himself in a Championship match against The Game. Anyone in his position would do that, right? Hunter would go as far to offer Maven a spot in Evolution in order to get out of the match, but the former reality star was having none of it. No prizes for guessing who went over here. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MkYmkpSH3ls
