10 WWE Tag Teams Vince McMahon Actually Loved
5. The Brain Busters
When it comes to managing former WCW/ NWA talent, WWE’s record is sketchy at best. Vince McMahon made the talented Terry Taylor pretend to be a Rooster. Dusty Rhodes was forced to wear polka dots. The less said about the Alliance the better.
Still, there has been the odd WCW stalwart to hit it off with McMahon. Ric Flair was treated pretty well. Another such case was the team of Arn Anderson and Tully Blanchard.
Anderson and Blanchard joined the WWE in 1988 from Jim Crockett Promotions. The two had wrestled a successful program as part of The Four Horsemen. Many observers wondered what WWE would do with the technically proficient pair. Was this signing a ploy to split up The Horsemen or did Vince see value in the pair? The answer would prove to be the latter.
So enamoured with his new capture Vince immediately put the team with Bobby ‘The Brain’ Heenan. Renamed The Brain Busters, the pair were pushed to the top of a then crowded doubles scene. A WWE World Tag Team Championship reign would follow. If not for Blanchard’s disciplinary issues the team would likely have gone on to further success.
