These two seemed to be absolute stars in the making, as their rockstar gimmick, flashing entrance, and dynamic partnership with the eye-catching Melina made it hard to look past them. Sadly, things wouldn't go their way, as despite having plenty of success, the team split multiple times, and came to an official end after Joey Mercury was released in 2007.
Eventually, Mercury found himself back with the company, playing supporting roles in the Straight Edge Society and Authority angles, but never attained much success. He's currently not employed with any major promotion after departing from his backstage producer role at ROH.
On the other hand, Nitro rebranded as John Morrison and looked set to become a massive deal with the company, wracking up singles titles and catching fans' attention as a possible main eventer. It seemed inevitable that he was the Shawn Michaels, but then he departed the company in 2011 due to an injury and creative frustration.
He worked well on the independent circuit, making a splash in Lucha Underground, but is now back in WWE acting as a supporting role to The Miz. Morrison's career is nothing to scoff at, but he didn't prove to be the next big thing like many predicted.
