10 WWE Tag Title Challengers After Extreme Rules
7. Heath Slater & Curtis Axel
Where can AxelMania go now that WrestleMania season is over? Also, since former Slater Gator member Titus O'Neil has reformed the Prime Time Players what is left for the former 3MB frontman?
The obvious answer to both of these questions is that both of these men need to become legitimate title contenders. They've already been teaming frequently on television and at live events so WWE should cement this union with a challenge against whomever are the current champions.
The two might not be in a position to win the titles but a challenge would serve as a vehicle to establish them as a comedic mainstay in the division.
Both guys are entertaining. Axel has turned his Hulk Hogan-inspired shtick into a funny medium with merchandising potential. Slater's likability stems from his underdog appeal. The best example of this was when he scored a fluke win on the then-Money In The Bank briefcase holder Seth Rollins. People went nuts for him when he beat Rollins.
They have potential. What would it hurt if they were on next month's pre-show to compete for the WWE Tag Team Championships?
