Roman Reigns lost cleanly to Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania.

It doesn't really matter how bravely he fought, how much blood he lost, how many F5s it took to put him away. This wasn't used as justification for his Greatest Royal Rumble rematch: he was simply awarded it, with no storyline explanation, and still complained about management mistreatment in this brain-melter of a narrative. This is the top babyface in the company subject to WWE's nothing-matters storytelling. The interchangeable cogs stand no chance of anything but the most phoned-in any-old-b*llocks imaginable.

On the 15 January 2018 RAW, Titus O'Neil and Apollo Crews defeated Tag Team Champions The Bar. This entitled Titus Worldwide to a title match on the 29 January RAW. The challenge was unsuccessful. There is a lyric in the Of Montreal song 'The Past Is A Grotesque Animal' that neatly sums up the sheer pointlessness of it all:

The sun is out, it melts the snow that fell yesterday / Makes you wonder why it bothered.

This served only to weaken the champions, did not tell a logical or particularly exciting story, and had no bearing on future storylines. It existed to fill TV time.

That's all so much of WWE content exists for.
