Money In The Bank was still a fresh concept when Edge 'cashed in' his privileges on John Cena to become WWE Champion at New Year's Revolution on 8 January 2006. That freshness really helped sell the shock value of Edge's first WWE Title win, and coming hot off the heels of Cena's Elimination Chamber victory also didn't hurt.

The entire Money In The Bank premise is played out now, making Edge's cruel removal of the belt from Cena's grasp in '06 all the more entertaining for being so original. Even Cena toppling Edge to reclaim the gold less than a month later at the Royal Rumble pay-per-view can't take away from the exasperated feel of the audience at New Year's Revolution.

This was a brilliant moment, one that helped usher in Edge's stint as an established main event star in WWE without really harming John Cena's reign of dominance either. Still, nobody could quite believe what they were seeing when the Canadian stood with Lita and held the belt aloft as the show went off the air.

In terms of heel title wins, this was one of the best, no to mention one of the most sudden.
