10 WWE Title Matches Nobody Asked For

1. Diesel Vs. 'King' Mabel (SummerSlam 1995)

After winning the 1995 King Of The Ring (a situation few could have predicted), 'King' Mabel was geared up for a WWF Title bout against Diesel at SummerSlam. The match was about as bad as you'd expect. Quite why Vince McMahon thought this was a solid idea is anyone's guess; the clumsy, reckless Mabel must be considered one of the worst pushes in WWE history.

There was no chance Diesel vs. Mabel was going to be able to follow a ladder match between Shawn Michaels and Razor Ramon from earlier that night. The dreadful headliner couldn't even top Bret Hart's match with Isaac Yankem D.D.S or a dreary casket match pitting The Undertaker against Kama. By far, the WWF Title match was the one fans were least hyped to see on the show.

Mabel's performance showed why he should never have been in such a lofty position at SummerSlam. He and Diesel struggled to pad out their nine-minute match and the challenger even dangerously sat his full weight on the champion's back near the end.
