10 WWE Title Matches Nobody Asked For
2. Randy Orton Vs. Big Show (Survivor Series 2013)
He was already popular before then, but the storyline screwing of Daniel Bryan at SummerSlam 2013 only intensified fan desire to see the underdog become a genuine WWE headliner. Matches against Randy Orton at Night of Champions, Battleground, and Hell in a Cell bolstered claims that he was ready, but it had all gone to pot by Survivor Series.
Suddenly, Big Show was drafted in as an emotional babyface. He was a step down from the world-class Bryan, and everybody knew it. By the time it was clear WWE planned to present Show one-on-one with Randy Orton at Survivor Series, groans were audible; that creative also had the temerity to book Show to stand up for Bryan (like the underdog needed anyone's help) was also irritating.
The match between Show and Orton couldn't live up to the dynamic sequences Randy and Bryan had worked on the three consecutive pay-per-views before it. Show's involvement in Bryan's feud with The Authority was avoidable and just shouldn't have happened.
