Oh how you've tried, WWE. The ceaseless attempts to make Roman Reigns the greatest babyface in company history continue even to this day, although Vince McMahon has realised that this is akin to bashing one's head against the nearest brick wall. Fans just don't want to cheer Reigns as a hero, and they haven't for years.

The big plan for WrestleMania 32 was to stack the odds against Reigns in a bold attempt to endear him to an audience who had long since made their minds up. To say it didn't work would be a gross understatement; fans spent much of the build booing Roman and cheering Triple H, which was the exact opposite reaction to the feud WWE wanted.

Come crunch time at 'Mania, people rebelled yet again on the main event. There was a sense that Reigns vs. Triple H could have worked earlier in the card, but giving the match close to 30 minutes at the end of a near six-hour show was a recipe for disaster.

It's almost like WWE wanted Reigns to be heel.
