10 WWE Wishes (That Will Never Come True)

8. Stone Cold Steve Austin: One More Match

Among his myriad achievements, Stone Cold Steve Austin can lay claim to being the only retired wrestler who has actually stayed retired. Recent years have seen the likes of Ric Flair and Shawn Michaels come off the bench, back into active competition, usually with disastrous consequences.

In all likelihood, were Stone Cold to lace up his boots and buckle that knee brace one more time, it would probably be a horror show. The man’s nearly 20 years out of the game, and while he keeps in good shape, he’s 56 years old.

All the same, the roar when that glass smashed and the Rattlesnake walked and talked his way to the ring would perhaps justify the inevitable shoddiness of the following match. Austin can pop a crowd with a promo and a Stunner like few on Earth, but there’s a difference between doing that on Raw Legends Night and in an actual match.

Austin’s opinion on the matter seems to be that he doesn’t want to come back for anything less than a great match, which he feels he isn’t capable of, and he knows better than anyone else what he’s able to achieve. He’s a bonafide wrestling titan who deserves his comfy retirement, even if we still can’t help wondering “what if?”
