10 WWE WrestleMania Matches That Infuriated The Fans

5. Brock Lesnar Vs. The Undertaker - WrestleMania XXX

Brock Lesnar has a pretty wretched WrestleMania record, all things considered, but the biggest accolade in the history of wrestling’s most important night is his and his alone. More important than any championship (or oversized battle royal trophy), The Undertaker’s streak was arguably the greatest creation in 'Mania history, outside of the show itself.

And Brock Lesnar got to end it, doing so at WrestleMania XXX. 21-0 became 21-1. Forget that the match itself was a dud, hampered from the get-go by an Undertaker concussion and a plodding pace. Nobody really wanted Lesnar - a part-timer who had largely underwhelmed upon returning - to end ‘Taker’s famous run. Arguments can be made in favour of the decision, but at the time it wasn’t something that the wider audience had taken into consideration.

Mike Chioda’s hand came down for the final count, and an entire audience recoiled in shock. Scratch that, an entire planet of fans recoiled in shock. Even the ones who thought Lesnar had a chance were shocked. It was described as ‘one of the most depressing moments in WWE history’ by Pro Wrestling Torch Newsletter, and history hasn’t changed that.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
