10 WWE Wrestlers Buried By Words Alone

2. Curtis Axel

Technically, Triple H didn't quite bury Curtis Axel purely with words. He also gave him a meek-looking slap around the chops, from which Mr Perfect's boy dropped to the canvas like a sack of spuds.

Mostly, though, it was the smarmy and derisive way that Triple H treated the idea that his opponent might be a physical threat to him that did it. Instead of doing his super-intense Haitch Face, he went all DX on him and started cracking wise.

That was the last thing that Axel needed too. The guy had just been brought out to the ring by Paul Heyman in order to be unveiled as his latest client. He was on the cusp of being taken seriously, but a couple of minutes face to face with HHH saw that he swiftly returned to being a joke.

It's arguable that the second-generation star never really recovered from this segment. He continued to rub shoulders with some of WWE's heavy hitters afterwards, yes, but it didn't really feel like he belonged.
