Daniel Bryan is a special kind of wrestler in many ways. On one side, there is the fact he was trained by Shawn Michaels and is an excellent in-ring technician. On the other, there was the fact that he gave a little too much to the sport and accumulated too many bad bumps along the way.

Similarly, his appearances at ‘The Showcase of the Immortals’ have had two sides to them as well. There were milestones such as capturing the WWE Championship at WrestleMania 30, despite the company’s initial direction for the main event. Then there were questionable moments, such as his 18-second loss to Sheamus two years prior.

Outside of back-and-forth booking, Bryan also had his battles with injury in both 2014 and 2015. Fans were elated when their favorite finally clutched the big belt in the main event of WrestleMania 30. Still, a few weeks later, he had to surrender the WWE title to undergo surgery.

He returned to set his sights on the Intercontinental Championship, although it didn’t position him quite as well as the year prior, and at ‘Mania 31, he captured the title. In a case of déjà vu, the belt was vacated the following month after he announced what was thought to be his retirement. The good news is that ‘D-Bry’ appears to have overcome his bad luck at the big one, and hopefully things will stay that way until he finally steps away from the ring on his own terms.
