10 WWE Wrestlers Cursed At WrestleMania

5. Big Show

Vince McMahon is said to prefer larger-than-life performers on his programming, as seen with most of the WWE roster from the late 1980s to the early 2000s. Along the same lines, he has had an exceptionally odd fascination with the ultra-heavyweight giants.

Enormous athletes, such as the Big Show, are often booked as dominant during the early goings of their careers and then quickly watered down by losses and comedy shticks. Even if the giant has lost its appeal, it’s not unusual for McMahon to still try to present them as credible threats whenever creative calls for it.

One way WWE could help keep performers like Big Show looking stronger would be to have them win the occasional marquee match at WrestleMania or even have a big match. Alas, despite once being presented as an unstoppable force, Big Show was often spending his time at ‘The Showcase of the Immortals’ doing the job for other stars or even for special guests, such as Floyd Mayweather. Of course, he couldn’t get Shaq to happen, the one guy he actually wanted to fight.

Whenever Show wasn’t doing things like sporting skimpy sumo gear during a throwaway segment with Akebono, he still found himself on the losing end during most of his ‘Mania matches. Perhaps his jump to AEW had as much to do with WrestleMania 37 plans as it did with moving on to a new career.
