A segment that feels particularly topical as AEW potentially prepares to welcome both CM Punk and Daniel Bryan aboard in 2021, this disastrous 2013 Monday Night Raw show-closer foreshadowed how far the company's top table would end up from its hardcore base over the next decade.

The December 9th 2013 edition of the show played host to a tone-deaf "Championship Ascension Ceremony" to build to a John Cena/Randy Orton title unification bout at the Tables, Ladders and Chairs pay-per-view several days later. Multiple former titleholders filled the ring, but the fans only had interest in one.

Triple H's deathly dull opening spiel was interrupted by enormous "Daniel Bryan" chants, and Shawn Michaels and Mark Henry's toadying attempts to cut them off only resulted in a louder chorus of "YES!" bellows in response. In response, a rattled 'King Of Kings' swung low and still missed.

"That's a lot of family for one building Daniel. A lot of them look just like you", said Hunter. 'The Game' had fundamentally acknowledged a systemic problem in an instant, not that he was going address it any time soon. "I'm not owned! I'm not owned!!", he continued to insist, as he slowly shrunk and transformed into a corn cob.
