10 WWE Wrestlers Vince McMahon Didn’t Know How To Book

7. Chad Gable

Professional wrestling is supposed to be about accentuating a performer's positives and hiding their negatives. Chad Gable's presentation is proof this is true.

The former Olympian is an outstanding, multi-tool professional wrestler with elite athleticism and technique, a crowd-popping moveset, and a goofy sense of charisma not dissimilar to that exhibited by Kurt Angle early in his WWE career. A well-rounded skillset that came to the forefront during his awesome run as one half of American Alpha in NXT and still comes creeping out on SmackDown every now and then, reminding viewers of how great the 34-year-old is when he's allowed to be.

Despite this, Vince McMahon literally made a gimmick out of Gable's worst attribute. "He's short, pal! Let's call him 'Shorty G'!" the WWE Chairman likely barked during a 2019 creative meeting, doubling over with laughter as he imagined the dreadful Baron Corbin feud playing out, from which Chad emerged deeply buried despite his high-effort performances.

No wrestler can excel in a gimmick as undermining as Shorty G. Not one. It is an impossible-to-defend chunk of creative sh*t endemic of WWE's modern product.
