10 WWE Wrestlers Who Break The Corporate Mould
9. Dexter Lumis
The former Sam Shaw somebody that few were expecting to see in WWE. This wasn't a reflection of his talent, but more the fact that his twisted gimmick and intensity didn't match up to the company's clean, corporate image. But these are strange times, as the disturbing and creepy performer has found a place in NXT, and he's kept all the scariest parts of his unhinged persona.
While NXT tries to present the character like a sadistic painter, it is clear that there are some frighteningly dark connotations behind the role. Aesthetically, if not explicitly, Lumis is designed to appear like a serial killer who has joined a wrestling company, which makes his feuds and matches full of horror. The dark and macabre influence behind this character makes him unique on the NXT roster and the complete opposite of WWE's child-friendly presentation.
Although the truth behind the gimmick is likely to go over the heads of most children watching, it certainly wouldn't for the parents. Lumis is the kind of character that would have felt far more at home in the Attitude Era, and not the clean and colourful world of contemporary, corporate WWE.
