Erik and Ivar are at the top of a long list of wrestlers who have been mishandled by creative upon being promoted from developmental. After dominating NXT for 15 months, the duo formerly known as War Raiders should have arrived on RAW and run roughshod through the tag-team division. Instead, they debuted as The Viking Experience, and have been something of a laughing stock ever since.

The team’s name caused an avalanche of criticism on social media and, the following week, it was changed to The Viking Raiders. Unfortunately, The Viking Experience was such a cartoonish name that they have never fully recovered from their main roster debut. The Viking Raiders had a brief tag team title reign, while being mostly involved in comedy vignettes with The Street Profits. Their booking has been a real waste of two men who were presented as an unstoppable force during their tenure on NXT.

In early September, Ivar suffered a neck injury. He underwent surgery and the tag team haven’t been seen on television since. Ivar’s recovery is expected to take time, and creative should start making plans for The Viking Raiders now. If presented right, these two heavyweights, who are preposterously agile for men their size, could be this decade's version of Kane & Big Show. They need to drop the comedy act and push these two as the most dominant tag team in wrestling today because, with the right booking, they very well could be.
