10 WWE Wrestlers Who Desperately Need To Be Repackaged In 2021
3. Aleister Black
The Dutch Destroyer is the most frustrating inclusion on this list because, during his time on NXT, his character was excellent. Aleister Black was an unflappable wrestler who let others cut promos, while he preferred to let his hands and feet do the talking. Black was the complete package; he had a terrific entrance, he was a lethal striker, and his Black Mass is one of the best finishers in the company. Despite his excellent character work on NXT, Vince McMahon and the main roster creative decided to fix something that wasn’t broken.
Instead of continuing to grow a character that NXT had been perfecting, creative completely changed Black’s presentation. He went from a man of few words to a man of only words, spending his first few months on RAW in a dark room cutting promos and rarely wrestling. Since his main roster debut, Black has had terrific matches with the likes of AJ Styles and Kevin Owens, but those feuds featured very little storytelling or character development. While it’s shocking creative has no ideas for him, Black’s absence on weekly television for the past month or so will be advantageous if WWE plan on repackaging him properly.
During WWE’s 2020 Draft, Black was drafted to SmackDown and this could be a great opportunity for a fresh start. If he is booked in meaningful programs and creative lets him get back to letting his in-ring work do the talking, the sky’s the limit for Aleister Black.
