10 WWE Wrestlers Who Desperately Need To Be Repackaged In 2021
4. RETRIBUTION
It’s fair to say RETRIBUTION have been nothing short of a booking disaster. The group was introduced as a collection of masked wrestlers who had been cast aside by WWE, and were determined to retaliate by wreaking havoc on the company. So how did RETRIBUTION follow up weeks of anarchy on RAW and SmackDown? By signing contracts with WWE.
Since their signing was announced, very little has gone right for RETRIBUTION. After being introduced as T-Bar, Mace, and Slapjack - Dominik Dijakovic, Dio Maddin, and Shane Thorne, respectively - the group lost their debut match to The Hurt Business. While the reveal of Mustafa Ali as the leader of the stable was exciting, it wasn’t until two months after their debut that RETRIBUTION picked up their first win. The group followed up their victory by no-showing RAW the next week. Seven days after that, Reckoning - Mia Yim - lost her in-ring debut to Dana Brooke in a match where she lost her mask part way through.
Creative needs to start presenting RETRIBUTION as an unstoppable force rather than a minor nuisance. In the same way AEW’s creative saved The Dark Order following a poor introduction, WWE need to give RETRIBUTION a purpose beyond being here to “gut reality.” Until Ali’s group starts winning matches or recruiting meaningful members, RETRIBUTION will not be taken seriously as a threat. In fact, it may be in WWE’s best interest to cut their losses and disband RETRIBUTION.
