10 WWE Wrestlers Who Had Their Momentum Repeatedly Halted By Major Injuries
8. Randy Orton
Randy Orton's shoulders are similar to Rey Mysterio's knees, in that they're essentially held together with Scotch Tape and rubber bands by this point.
Much like John Cena, Orton was presented as a hot prospect upon his 2002 debut. Sadly, he'd suffer his first of many shoulder injuries just weeks after debuting, and he'd spend several months out of the ring as a result.
Upon returning in 2003, Orton would enjoy a successful run at the top of the card before re-aggravating his shoulder injury during his WrestleMania 21 match with The Undertaker. Three years later, while engaged in a WWE Championship feud with Triple H, the injury bug bit Orton once more, as he broke his collarbone following a rough landing at One Night Stand 2008. Worse yet, just as he was about to return, he reinjured himself in a motorcycle accident.
Mercifully, many of Orton's subsequent injuries were minor, yet ill-timed. A herniated disc during a late December 2011 feud with Wade Barrett kept him out of action for four weeks, then a concussion took him out of the World Heavyweight Championship Elimination Chamber match less than two months later. More serious injuries would follow, as yet another shoulder injury kept him off TV for nearly a year from 2015 to 2016 and a meniscus tear would deny him a US Championship run in 2018.
It's a good thing he's stayed healthy since then, because he's had one hell of a run this year.
