10 WWE Wrestlers Who Had Their Momentum Repeatedly Halted By Major Injuries
7. Mark Henry
Being one of the strongest human beings in the history of mankind has apparently not stopped Mark Henry from injuring himself.
When Henry signed with WWE in 1996, he was already dealing with a back injury that he'd suffered while lifting superhuman amounts of weight in preparation for the Summer Olympics. Just three months after his in-ring debut, Henry would require a year off to heal.
Following his return as "Sexual Chocolate," Henry was sent back to developmental before taking an extended hiatus from wrestling altogether. He returned to the SmackDown brand in 2002, but was quickly sidelined with a knee injury. He'd return in August of 2003, only to tear his quadriceps muscle during a training session in February of 2004.
Henry would finally rejoin the main roster at the end of 2005. He was immediately thrust into the World Heavyweight Championship picture, which had long eluded him. He'd score wins over the likes of Kurt Angle, The Undertaker, and then-champion Rey Mysterio, only to tear his patella tendon completely off the bone in July of 2006.
He'd return in May of 2007 and gradually make his way into a long-deserved run with the big gold belt in 2011. After this fantastic run ended, Henry would announce in May of 2012 that he required career-threatening surgery, which ultimately kept him sidelined for nine months. He spent the last years of his in-ring career taking multiple hiatuses to recover from nagging injuries.
Poor Mark...clearly, he was the first inductee into his own "Hall of Pain".
