10 WWE Wrestlers Who Need To Redeem Themselves In 2025

It's appalling to witness Pete Dunne's downfall from being the formidable Bruiserweight in NXT UK to the floundering Butch in the mid-card on the WWE main roster. He holds the second-longest reign with the WWE United Kingdom Champion in history, with 685 days as the champion, apart from his other accolades. However, his booking has been lacklustre, to say the least, ever since he joined the main roster in 2022.

Unfortunately, his main roster debut occurred a few months before Triple H took over as the Head of Creative, which meant he was at Vince McMahon's disposal, who had a history of ruining NXT superstars. Maybe McMahon thought Dunne was a bit small of being the Bruiserweight and decided to turn him into Butch, a child with anger management issues.

By the time Triple H took over, Dunne was not at the top of the priority list of the things "The Game" needed to fix. He continued with the Butch character while waiting for his turn, which finally came in 2024 when he got his old name back.

However, getting rid of the Butch name is only the first step of redemption for Pete Dunne, and WWE must find a way to rebuild his character in the coming year. He's still battling the ghosts of his past with his anger over people still calling him Butch, but WWE needs to end that angle and recognize Dunne has the potential to offer more as a legitimate heel, and 2025 must be the year he breaks out as a legitimate singles star.
