Long before there was Brother Nero, Jeff Hardy also reinvented himself in TNA as Willow the Wisp. A throwback to his pre-WWF days, Willow was originally created in the Hardys' OMEGA promotion; however, after the Hardys began full-time with the WWF, Willow was presumed dead, never to be seen again.

When Hardy was released from WWE in 2003, the Willow character made a brief appearance at ROH Death Before Dishonor, but wouldn't be seen officially until 2014 during Hardy's second run with TNA. After several weeks of vignettes, Willow made his nationally televised debut in the main event of Lockdown.

After five months under the Willow mask, TNA Director of Wrestling Operations, Kurt Angle, asked the masked enigma to bring back the Jeff Hardy of old for the No. 1 Contenders battle royal that night. Hardy later obliged, achieving victory as his unmasked self.

The Willow character disappeared for two years, before the umbrella-toting wildman was reintroduced in 2016, appearing several times during Matt Hardy's descent into Broken Matt.
