10 WWE Wrestlers Who Should Have Bypassed NXT
8. Finn Balor
WWE see a star and fall in love, bringing them in with a tonne of momentum only to have them teeter out; it's a tale as old as time. But Finn Balor's story differs ever-so-slightly thanks to the fact that his massive push was halted by an untimely injury, the aftermath of which saw him pushed down the card. His introduction to the company came in the form of an incredible NXT run, but he was a star from the offset, so was there any need to put him there?
Balor wrestled on the independent circuit under many names like Fergal Devitt or Prince Devitt, but he came into massive form after becoming the first leader of the Bullet Club in NJPW. This stable was New Japan's biggest prospect, and Devitt was right at the centre of it, so when he left the promotion and moved to WWE, he easily felt worthy of the main roster.
When Balor eventually made it to Raw, he was the fifth overall draft pick, which was a huge sign of their faith in him. The faith then grew as he became the inaugural Universal Champion. Seeing as nothing changed for him in NXT, it seems they should have just cashed in all their chips right off the bat.
