10 WWE Wrestlers Who Should’ve Got One More Title Run

8. Mark Henry

What? WWE Championship

When? Money in the Bank 2013

Why? As a former Olympian, you could argue Mark Henry was deserving of more than just one world title reign in WWE (not including the ECW belt) and the company had a chance to do something about that in the summer of 2013.

Heading into Money in the Bank, Henry showed up on the 17 June 2013, Raw to seemingly announce his retirement. Tagging onto the end of a John Cena promo, Henry gave a heartfelt, teary-eyed speech that had everybody watching fooled – including Cena, who’d shortly be taking a World’s Strongest Slam once Henry revealed the swerve.

The whole thing had been a ruse, and a thoroughly believable one at that. A match for Cena’s WWE title was scheduled as a result, but Henry lost in his one-time shot.

On top of his Olympian credentials and the Oscar-worthy performance with the retirement tease, June 2013 was something of a lull period as far as the WWE title picture was concerned, so where was the harm in giving Henry one last run on top, even if it were only for a week or two?
