10 WWE Wrestlers Who Should’ve Got One More Title Run
4. Mick Foley
What? WWF Championship
When? Royal Rumble 2000
Why? At the turn of the millennium, Mick Foley’s feud with Triple H saw him almost go out on the highest of high notes. Almost, because there was no world title win to show for his efforts.
After defeat in a Street Fight at the Royal Rumble, Foley then lost in a Hell in a Cell match at No Way Out and in doing so was forced to retire.
Five weeks later he was back in the ring, once again challenging for Triple H’s title at WrestleMania 2000.
So, if Foley wasn’t retiring after all, did Triple H really need to beat him at three successive PPVs? Surely the challenger could’ve won at least once before dropping the belt back to Triple H, which would ultimately still put the new guy over.
If he’d won the title at the Rumble, where he returned as Cactus Jack for the occasion, he’d have got his deserved nostalgia run that his performances had warranted, while there’d also have been time for Triple H to regain the belt either inside Hell in a Cell or at 'Mania.
