10 WWE Wrestlers Who Should’ve Got One More Title Run

2. Ric Flair

What? WWE Championship

When? Monday Night Raw, 26 November 2007

Why? In late November of 2007, and in his hometown of Charlotte, NC, Ric Flair showed up on Raw for the first time in months. It was teased he might’ve been there to formally announce his retirement, and though Flair himself shut those rumours down in declaring “I’ve got too much juice left,” Vince McMahon clearly had other ideas.

Just because he could, McMahon emerged to issue Flair an ultimatum – lose your next match and your career would be over. And the first order of business? A match with WWE Champion Randy Orton, and a match that Flair would go on to win, typically, by rolling up Orton and grabbing a handful of tights after hitting a low blow.

However, Orton’s title hadn’t been on the line, so while Flair had saved his career, he wasn’t crowned champion and nor did he get another shot.

Given the location and the backstory, this was another case – much like with Lawler in 2011 – where the timing just felt perfect to give a soon-to-be-retired legend one last moment in the sun.
