7. Book-End/Rock Bottom
So here's where things start to get a little murky. Most people seem to agree that it was The Rock who came up with the move but in a March 2012 interview Booker claimed that it was his move and that Rock stole it and made it more famous. It's tricky to determine exactly when both men starting using the move, but it appears to be around 1997. Rock subbed it for his underwhelming shoulder breaker finisher and Booker started using it because it was a lot easier to execute than the Harlem Hangover (a top rope front flip legdrop). There are a couple of subtleties with the execution of the moves. Whereas The Rock falls flat on his stomach when delivering the move, Booker drops to his knees. The two wrestlers engaged in a feud in the Summer of 2001, which was one of the best parts of the Invasion storyline. During their matches together they would often trade their variations of the move. Booker might have used a move similar to the Rock Bottom before The Great One started using it but there's no doubt that The Rock made it popular and that Booker only started using it more afterwards. Booker's axe kick finish always looked better anyway. The People's Eyebrow versus The Spinarooni is a different argument altogether, however. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nzGrgd-b5f0
