After Crown Jewel 2018, Shane McMahon and the Miz would have an on-and-off feud/partnership throughout much of the next 12 months. They'd team, win the tag team championships, fight each other at WrestleMania 35, and even get Miz's dad involved.

Long after the feud ended at WrestleMania 39 Sunday, the prodigal son returned to the grandest stage and faced Miz in an impromptu match, much like Pat McAfee did the night before, while Mike was hosting the event alongside Snoop Dogg. Unfortunately, the match almost immediately fell apart as while performing a standard rope-run and leapfrog spot, Shane's leg gave way and he tore his quads little more than a minute in.

McMahon was removed, but the match wasn't over, as Snoop Dogg turned on his co-host and took Shane's place, performing the People's Elbow on Miz for the victory. A mess of a segment and a nasty injury for Shane. But on a positive note, The Miz made history that night as, following the losses to both Dogg and McAfee, he became the first superstar to compete on both nights of WrestleMania weekend!
