10 WWE Wrestlers Who Won Matches They Weren't Booked In

6. Shane McMahon - Crown Jewel 2018

Back to Saudi Arabia we go and Crown Jewel 2018, the show where multiple wrestlers refused to take part following the murder of an anti-Saudi monarchy journalist, Shawn Michaels coming out of retirement for a dreadful tag team match, Braun Strowman once again failing to win the Universal Championship, and the tournament to crown the Best Wrestler in the World being won by the boss's son.

The show featured the tournament in full and included names like Seth Rollins, Kurt Angle, Rey Mysterio, etc. Effectively, it was as much of a world series as the NFL is (if they're not American, they're not getting in). The finals of the tournament came down to Dolph Ziggler and The Miz. However, before the match took place, The Miz suffered an injury and was removed from the finals.

Now in the vast majority of World Cups, a second match would take place between the failing semi-finalists to determine 3rd place, and logically, the winner of that match would be inserted. But this is WWE in Saudi Arabia where logic goes into the desert to slowly cook under the unforgiving sun and eventually be lost to the endless sands. So Shane McMahon appeared, defeated Dolph in 2:30 minutes and took the trophy for himself despite having nothing to do with the tournament until that point.

The World Cup wouldn't appear again until 2022 with a much more varied field and a much more deserving winner in Ricochet.
