10 WWE Wrestlers Who Would Be Right At Home In NJPW
1. Sheamus
It is this writer's legitimate belief that there is no individual on the WWE roster today that would be better suited to NJPW than 'The Celtic Warrior', Sheamus. 2015 and the first half of 2016 were rough for Sheamus, but his team with Cesaro has seen him recover some of the popularity that he had previously lost. Sheamus is relevant again - almost back to where he belongs.
Sheamus will go down in history as one of WWE's most underrated talents. When the Irishman is on form he is on form, and his best matches are always shuddering affairs. The four-time world champion is at his best when in the ring with another bull, his body covered in bruises and his hair matted to his skull. It doesn't take much imagination to picture Sheamus in a New Japan ring.
Whilst the division itself doesn't have a true definition, there may not be a better wrestler/division fit than Sheamus and the NEVER Openweight group. Over the past few years, the class has been characterised by a number of stiff, hard-hitting fights, the sort of match that brings the best out of Sheamus.
Sheamus vs. Tomohiro Ishii, Hirooki Goto, Togi Makabe, EVIL and the rest would almost certainly be MOTY sleeper contenders. If Sheamus was let loose in New Japan, his style of wrestling and the available opponents would see him become one of the most respected brawlers on the planet.
