Whilst resorting to lazy stereotypes is dangerous when talking about crowds, one thing is certainly clear - Japanese wrestling crowds love impressive feats of strength. Katsuya Kitamura is one of the worst wrestlers on the entire New Japan roster, but as long as he keeps being big and strong, he'll be fine.

When you add strength to athleticism and multiply it by charisma, you have a formula that can only be described as 'winning'. Big E. has all three of those attributes in spades, and as such it is easy to imagine the former Langston being a major hit in New Japan Pro Wrestling.

Long before The New Day was a thing, Big E. had a number of hard-hitting matches with Cesaro, Alberto Del Rio, and a couple of others, underrated matches that were consistently entertaining and a bit of a departure from what we expect in WWE. Big E.'s style would fit right in in New Japan, and it is difficult to imagine his natural charisma leading him anywhere else but to success.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
