10 WWE Wrestlers With HUGE Mainstream Breakout Potential

3. Mustafa Ali

What is it with WWE and booking obvious babyfaces as bitter heels? Sami Zayn and Bayley are two glaring examples, and you can go ahead and add Mustafa Ali to that list. A former police officer from Chicago, Ali is a shining beacon of unity and integrity. He also happens to be pretty darn electric in the ring, and one of the best promos in the entire country to boot. What is it that WWE is missing here?

If anyone can turn the ailing Retribution faction around, it is Mustafa Ali. His main roster career has been as much about stops as starts, with injuries and bad timing getting in the way of championship matches and pushes, but Ali now finds himself as the face and voice of a featured group. Dijakovic, Madden and Thorne couldn't have been given worse names, but they also couldn't have been given a better mouthpiece.

The son of an Indian mother and Pakistani father, Ali's background has only been briefly touched upon in WWE, but the man himself has discussed it at length in the past on social media and in other interviews. An eloquent and thoughtful speaker, Mustafa Ali could be a lot more than a hacker and the leader of an upstart faction. Watch this space.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
