Funaki will likely go down as one of WWE's most memorable jobbers of all-time. He was SmackDown's No. 1 announcer after all, despite not having much success as a singles competitor outside of reigns as Hardcore and Cruiserweight champion.

For the final few years of his career, he was mainly utilized as an enhancement talent on the blue brand where he put over the stars of tomorrow. Unfortunately for Funaki, his low spot on the card didn't save him from getting suspended via the WWE Wellness Policy in August 2007 due to being a recipient of illegal steroids.

Similar to Heath Slater, the suspension didn't hurt him any because he was already a job guy as it was. Due to the suspension, he was absent from TV for the fall season, but was back to losing matches by the tail end of 2007.
