10 Young WWE Stars With WrestleMania Main Event Potential
6. Pete Dunne
There is an argument that could be made that Pete Dunne has reached his peak in WWE.
Currently ranking as an elder statesman on NXT 2.0, despite only aged 28 years old, the Bruiserweight has already achieved so much in his time with the company. Bursting onto the mainstream scene in the inaugural United Kingdom Championship Tournament, Dunne went on to hold that belt for an unbelievable 685 days between 2017-2019, but ever since, gold has for the most part eluded him.
Sure, he had a wildly entertaining run alongside Matt Riddle as the BroserWeights, winning tag-team gold, but Dunne has challenged for major singles titles on numerous occasions, and has never gone over (his UK Title reign aside). WWE seems to prefer Dunne as a reliable hand who can carry a great match with anyone, and to be fair NXT 2.0 could use more of those right now.
But the vindictive and technically sensational Dunne is capable of so much more. If ever he jumps to the main roster, Dunne could immediately make a huge splash in either brand's main event scene as a shrewd villain or quiet anti-hero babyface.
The upside for Dunne is that he has time on his side. He hasn’t even reached the prime years of his career. When he does, if still under WWE contract, Vince and co. should take notice and take advantage, because Pete Dunne could easily be one of the faces of the company.
