Women's wrestling was rarely a full-on WWE concern until the likes of Lita and Trish Stratus started to change the game. Even then, scoring respectable match time at WrestleMania was an annual challenge for the division until the modern era. That's partly what made Sable's performance back in 1998 (when women's wrestling sure wasn't a priority!) so startling to witness.

She teamed with Marc Mero vs. Luna Vachon and Goldust in a match that could've honestly gone south in a hurry. After all, Sable had been hired for her looks, not because she'd be expected to produce marvels between the ropes. The blonde bombshell was fired up at 'Mania XIV though - she cut an intense figure, and put across how desperate she was to get her hands on Luna brilliantly. Even Mero was booked to look shocked at what his previously mild-mannered valet was capable of.

Sable's match-winning powerbomb and TKO combo (Mero's finishing move at the time) turned some heads. On commentary, Jim Ross and Jerry Lawler wondered what was going on. Inside the ring, Goldust, Vachon and even Marc were left reeling at the sheer viciousness of Sable's approach. It was remarkable stuff. Vince McMahon and other members of WWF corporate must've been seeing dollar signs dancing in front of their eyes when looking on.

Realistically, Sable was the only babyface involved in the match. Fans caught onto that quickly, and they treated her like a megastar out there. This wouldn't be Sable's last whirl as an active wrestler, but it might well be considered her best.
