Revisit 'Mania 33 and some moments feel like they happened in a parallel universe. WWE getting Bill Goldberg right almost two decades after his prime? Check. Shane McMahon having one of the best singles matches on the show with AJ Styles? Check. John Cena and Nikki Bella being all loved up and getting engaged after toppling The Miz and Maryse in a mixed tag-team bout? Check.

That heartfelt proposal from 'Super Cena' to Bella melted the hearts of thousands of fans sweating buckets inside a toasty Camping World Stadium in Orlando, Florida. It had been rumoured beforehand heading into the pay-per-view, but seeing John get down on one knee and asking Nikki to marry him was clearly WWE's bid to replicate Randy Savage and Miss. Elizabeth magic of old.

This was a shoot proposal, for the record. Everyone was lovestruck following the cute couple moment, that's for sure. The wedding didn't actually happen in the end though. Cena and Bella would split up in April 2018 a mere month before they were due to tie the knot in May. Does that trample all over the historical value of the moment? Yes and no.

It clearly sucked for them away from the ring, but WWE got to furnish their midcard at 'Mania with a tearjerking visual that literally had some in the live crowd wondering if they should propose to their other half as well. Things didn't end well on the romance front for Nikki and John, but this was a special occasion that'll go down in WrestleMania history.
