"Would you be content to see me crying? After all those little games you put me through? After all I've done for you, you're lying. Wouldn't it be nice to tell the truth?". Those lyrics, taken from Bon Jovi's hit 'Shot Through The Heart' could been part of a Shane Douglas promo in 1991, believe it or not. The 1984 track sure would've come up at some point had this idea burst into life.

Douglas was 4 years away from WWF monotony as a 'Dean' who ticked off Kliq members behind the curtain and was therefore doomed. He was only a few years away from trashing the NWA and igniting the flame for a new revolution with Extreme Championship Wrestling too, and that couldn't have happened had he been kidding on to be Jon Bon Jovi.

The fed's braintrust played around with a Bon Jovi style rockstar gimmick for Shane in '91, and Jimmy Hart even penned songs for him to perform. Man, this could've been the worst amalgamation between Honky Tonk Man and Man Mountain Rock to ever exist. Man! Even Hart's flair for writing catchy melodies and killer entrance tracks couldn't have helped Douglas rock his way to the top of cards.

Shane was gone by the end of the year anyway, and he must've been fearing WCW after they'd cast him as one of the Dynamic Dudes alongside super popular and super hip (ahem) Johnny Ace beforehand. ECW greatness was on the way, and the Bon Jovi chat was a bullet dodged.
