Was there anyone better at appearing in these situations than Sabu? Sure, he didn't have Undertaker's morbidity and he didn't have Bray Wyatt's creepiness, but there's something iconic about darkness turning to light and a terribly banged up man appearing, pointing to the sky as a crowd goes nuts.

Arguably the most memorable of these instances came at ECW's 1996 November To Remember show. Taz took to the ring and held the show hostage, refusing to leave unless Sabu came out to face him.

After choking out Todd Gordon and hitting Paul Heyman with a T-Bone suplex, the Human Suplex Machine locked Heyman in the Tazmission, only for the lights to go out.

When the lights came back on, Taz found himself face to face with the man he wanted so badly, the Suicidal, Homicidal, Genocidal, Death-Defying Sabu.

The crowd went nuts in a way that only ECW crowds could. As the two came together the lights went out one more time, only for the ring to be empty as they came back up.

Maybe Paul Heyman is a genius after all...

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
