WWE has had a no blood rule for some time now, but at WrestleMania 31 it appeared that rule was now redundant. Brock Lesnar bled heavily. Whether it was deliberate or hardway, the WWE clearly didn't mind. There was none of the usual pausing the action to tend the wound or adapting the camera angle to focus away from the cut. Instead, WWE's production team seemed to revel in the bloody effect. Lesnar sold it as if he had intended to get colour and the whole thing ended up being a lot more dramatic as a result. It is proof that occasional spots like this do have a place in pro wrestling. Hopefully Lesnar's bloody display represents a softening in WWE's at times oppressive attitude to what wrestlers can and can't do.
