11 Biggest Missteps On The Road To WrestleMania 38

2. Edge’s Inexplicable Heel Turn

We should all be able to agree that Heel Edge, the Rated-R Superstar, is much better than Grit Edge, the family man.

But then, Blue Man Edge, the walking thesaurus, made his debut last month, and suddenly fans are looking back fondly at Grit Edge. You would think that a feud between AJ Styles and Edge would be a dream where you want to watch every step along the way, but instead, you find yourself wanting them to hurry up and get to the fireworks factory and have the WrestleMania match.

This version of Edge is legit change-the-channel energy. His promos are melodramatic nonsense, filled with ridiculous phrases like, “mountain of omnipotence,” all illuminated inexplicably with a blue light.

It has to be seen to be believed, but it’s just awful. Worse, it’s just made the journey to WrestleMania look worse and less appealing. If you can’t enjoy a Hall-of-Famer feuding with one of the best wrestlers in the world in the lead-up to Mania, then that’s an indictment of the company booking them.
